Stuart Hargreaves Youth Development Scholarship 2026

Scholarship objectives

The Stuart Hargreaves Youth Development Scholarship was created to assist a local young person in starting or furthering their career or used in their career development. Possible uses of the funds include purchasing equipment or tools, providing funds to assist in attending specialised training or conferences or assisting with travel expenses to attend relevant events interstate or overseas.

The scholarship is named in honour of the late Stuart Hargreaves, a founding member of Community Bank Bright and is supported by Stuart’s family.

Funding

  • The scholarship will provide up to $5000* to assist a young person/s in starting a career. (*includes GST)
  • Community Bank Bright reserves the right to provide part of or all of the requested funds.
  • Funds will not be provided for day-to-day living and travel expenses.

Eligibility criteria

  • Applicants must be a young person aged 16-25
  • Reside at a permanent residence within Bright, Harrietville, Myrtleford, Porepunkah, Buckland Valley, Wandiligong, or surrounding areas between these locations.

The process

1. Application

  • Applications open on Monday February 2 at 9am and close on Friday March 20 at 5pm.

2. Assessment

  • The board of Community Bank Bright and representatives of the Stuart Hargreaves family are responsible for approving scholarship requests.
  • Successful recipient/s will be notified within 14 days of close of submissions.
  • Successful recipient/s will be invited to the Community Bank Bright 2026 AGM in November (date TBC) to give an update on the impact of the scholarship.
  • Decisions by the Board regarding applications are final.
  • The Board reserves the right not to award a scholarship in any given year.

3. Implementation

  • To redeem awarded funds, the successful recipient/s must provide written evidence or a tax invoice/ quote for proposed use of funds before payment will be made directly to supplier/ provider.
  • The balance of the approved funds must be redeemed by the recipients/s within 12 months from the date the scholarship is awarded.
  • Recipients/s must provide written feedback to the Board about the outcomes achieved and the use of the funds.
  • Allow Community Bank Bright to share this information with its key stakeholders and social media accounts.
  • Take part in a photo op to promote the scholarship.
  • Failure to meet these requirements may result in the funding being withdrawn
